Caverns

Crystal Caverns at Hupp’s Hill -- 33231 Old Valley Pike, Strasburg. 540-465-8660. Considered the oldest documented cavern in Virginia, come explore this Civil War cave.  The first visitors to Crystal Caverns were the Native American tribes, whose hunting parties frequented the northern Shenandoah Valley region.  Presence of arrowheads and other artifacts found in and around the cave solidifies this theory.

 

Shenandoah Caverns -- 261 Caverns Road, Shenandoah Caverns. 540-477-3115. Here you will find some of the world’s most beautiful crystal formations waiting to be enjoyed and photographed.  See famous Bacon formations so distinctive they appeared in National Geographic. You’ll be delighted by soaring rooms and small intricate formations.  After your tour, stroll down the Main Street of Yesteryear to enjoy a collection of antique department store window displays.
